Deuba Could Be Elected Prime Minister

Issue 07, February 13, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 9, 2011: speaking at a function held by Nepal the Press Union in Tansen of the Palpa District today, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed that the Maoists and CPN-UML leaders have nodded his candidacy for a new prime minister but his party boss Sushil Koirala has been adamant that he is sticking to the candidacy of Ram Chandra Poudel causing the loss to his party. Mr. Deuba has said that the Maoists have decided to support Jhalanath Khanal only after his party has decided to field Ram Chandra Poudel for a new prime minister again. He asks a logical question, “How could a man lost 16 times win the election? How could the political leaders that have rejected him 16 times vote for him this time?”

Mr. Deuba lamented that his party leaders did not heed to his suggestion for making him a candidate instead of Ram Chandra Poudel for a new prime minister; consequently, the NC suffered embarrassing defeat in the election to a new prime minister, nepalnews.com writes.
