Initiation To Complete New Constitution

August 9, 2010: Chairman of Constitution Assembly (CA) Subash Chandra Nemwang has called a meeting of whips of the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML at the CA hall in Kathmandu on Sunday, August 8 to initiate the completion of the writing of a new constitution; the three political guys have agreed on finalizing the contentious issues appeared in the different subject-matter reports prepared by thematic committees of the CA; they agreed on sorting out some differences surfaced in the report prepared by National Interest Protection Committee of the CA, and prepare questionnaires on other controversial issues not reached a consensus for resolving through a voting in the CA and then forward it to the Constitutional Committee (CC); Chairman of CA Nemwang has said that the meeting has opened a door to build a consensus on many issues and paved the way to take other controversial issues to the CA meeting; following the legal provision, the three major political parties that hold a two-third majority first need to build a consensus on the issues not solved by the Committees and the CA members during the discussions in the CA meetings, and then they need to resolve  the controversial issues by voting on the questionnaires in the cases not reached a consensus, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of August 9, 2010 reports.
