By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On November 25, 2008, the Central Committee meeting of the Communist party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist) prepared a manifesto of the party encompassing the report submitted by both Chairman Prachanda and senior leader ‘Kiran’ and the suggestions submitted by the National Convention of cadres following the inputs provided by the 21 groups of the cadres divided for discussing it. The Central committee would submit it to the National Convention of cadres on November 26, 2008.
Prime Minister and Chairman Prachanda submitted a political report to the meeting of the Central Committee of the CPN-Maoist on Monday, November 17, 2008. His proposal was for strengthening the current system of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and then reaching the final goal of People’s Republic staying on the current of the competition of the multi-party democracy.
On the same day, Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’ submitted his version of a political report in which he proposed to achieve the goal of ‘People’s Republic’ through the people’s revolt in view of not having sufficient majority of the CPN-Maoist in the Constituent Assembly for crafting a new constituent, and in view of facing a stiff challenge from other political parties to integrating the People’s Liberation Army into the Nepali Army.
The manifesto prepared by the Central Committee meeting encompassing all three different views has it that the CPN-Maoist would follow the path proposed by Chairman Prachanda following some of the revolutionary ideas of ‘Kiran’ and the suggestions given by the cadres. In case the Constituent Assembly could not craft a new constitution and integrate the people’s Liberation Army with the Nepali Army then the CPN-Maoist would follow the path proposed by ‘Kiran’ and grab the power through the people’s revolution.
The cadres representing all districts in Nepal would discuss this manifesto again on November 26, 2008 and give some suggestions if necessary. Then, the Central Committee of the CPN-Maoist would discuss it again on November 27, 2008 and pass it.
