Hearty Welcome to Girija In Biratnagar

Issue 42, October 18, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On October 14, 2009, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala flew off to his hometown Biratnagar to unwrap the statues of his brother BP Koirala and his sister-in-law Nona Koirala on October 15, 2009.

A large number of his supporters have assembled at the Biratnagar airport to welcome him. Upon arrival of Girija Koirala, some of them approached him with bouquets of flowers but he refused to accept their offer. Obviously, he was upset very much because of the controversy over the appointment of his daughter Sujata Koirala to Deputy Prime Minister.

However, his supporters have arranged a motorcade for taking him to his residence jubilantly most probably for boasting his morale after getting demoralized for putting pressure on the Prime Minister to elevate his daughter Sujata Koirala to the Deputy Prime Minister.

The police had taken strict security measures to ensure nothing undesirables would happen.
