Anti-ethnic Statement of Ram Chandra Poudel

Issue 43, October 25, 2009

By Kathmandu Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On October 20, 2009, the state-run Radio Nepal in its 7:00 AM news has stated that speaking at the program held in Thime, Bhaktapur to celebrate the New Year following the Nepal Samvat, Nepali Congress Parliamentary Leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that we will soon lose our national identity if we develop our identity following the ethnic and native languages and identities.

If Mr. Poudel is a logically thinking person he would understand that developing ethnic languages, cultural and society would not lose the national identity rather it will strengthen the national identity, as the nation is the federation of all ethnic groups and communities.

The statement of Mr. Poudel has been the most regressive and has hit hard on all ethnic groups and communities and on the people wishing to give equal opportunity to all ethnic and community people to develop their culture, religion and society. With such an anti-ethnic statement, Mr. Poudel wants to stop the current trend of the development of culture, languages and religions of all Nepalis.

So, all ethnic people including different communities and all the people wishing to honor the equal development of all Nepalis no matter which community and ethnic group they belong to need to rise against the statement of Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Leader Ram Chandra Poudel and hit him hard so that he would not dare to deliver such a statement in public in the future. If it is the line of the Nepali Congress Party, too, then we must fight against the party as well. We need to hit him back right now using all our power and forces we have in hand.
