September 3, 2012: at the meeting of top leaders of UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML held at the headquarters of CPN-UML at Balkhu in Kathmandu on September 1, 2012, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda proposed to hold a referendum on the key issues concerning a new constitution if the parties were to fail in building a consensus on the contentious issues through negotiations or through the parliament by September 16, 2012, according to myrepublica.com.

The newly formed CPN-Maoist recently detaching from the UCPN-Maoist is preparing to repeat 17-year-old history again as if the party was launching another civil war by propagating the agenda of nationality similar kinds of demands just adding a few more points against the government led by his colleague of mother party. Speaking at the Reporters Club in Kathmandu today, Vice-chairman of CPN-Maoist C.P Gajurel said that his party is set to hand over a 70-point demand to the government before launching streets protests. The 70-point demand comprises 30 points added to the 40 points the then Maoist party had presented to the then government headed by Sher Bahadur Deuba before launching the insurgency in 1996, writes nepalnews.com

A majority of NC CWC members on September 2, 2012, spoke in favor of fresh elections and suggested the party leadership not to fear going to the polls for electing a fresh CA, according to CWC member Krishna Chandra Nepali. The two-day national gathering of CPN-Maoist-aligned Limbuwan Rastriya Mukti Morcha held in Damak concluded yesterday made a decision on reinstating the ‘people’s government’ active during the 10-year-long Maoist insurgency. The ‘people’s government’ is needed to achieve the ultimate goals of the people and prepare for revolt, said the Morcha.
