Marking Eleventh-Freed-Kamaiya Day In Nepal

July 19, 2011: representatives of freed Kamaiyas from all five districts of Mid-and Far-Western Regions have Monday celebrated the one-decade-of freedom from bonded-labor in Kathmandu yesterday, however, they have not been freed from the hellish lives they have been living even after 11 years of freedom because of the government failing in providing them with the relief assistance the government has promised, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
Speaking at the event held to mark 11th Freed Kamaiya Day, speakers representing the Freed Kamaiya Society and the organizations affiliated to it have said that even after 11 years of their freedom from the bonded labor, their lives have not improved so far, as the government has not met the requirements they need to live a worthy life.
