By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
February 7, 2010: addressing reporters at a press conference held in Kathmandu, President of Nepal Medical Association (NMA) Dr Kedar Narsingh KC has said that the Government of Nepal has not been serious about their demands and has forced the medical practitioners to launch a disobedience movement starting on February 13 to put pressure on the government to meet their demands; the doctors have decided to stop paying five per cent service tax to the government and would not collect any tax from the public. He has also said that private health institutions and hospitals have been empathetic to their decision. He has accused the government of attempting to keep the doctors working in remote hospitals forever denying them to come back to work at central hospitals.
