Vaidhya Maoists Started Off Preparing For Disrupting Elections

Issue 35, September 1, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 31, 2013: in a show of strength and as a dress rehearsal of interrupting the elections to a new CA scheduled for November 19, 2013, the cadres of the CPN-Maoist chaired by Mohan Vaidhya marched in Kathmandu yesterday. The cadres started marching from Maitidevi, then passed through Dillibazaar, Putalisadak, Bagbazaar, Ghantaghar, Durbarmarg and Indra Chowk, and came to Basantpur, and held a corner meeting.

Speaking at the corner meeting, General Secretary of CPN-Maoist Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal proudly said that his party would not let anybody hold the elections to a new CA even if it would need for his party to launch a conflict. He made it clear that previously, the then government did not consider the demands of his party causing the 10-year conflict; now his party has put forth 18-point demand; if it is not met means another conflict.

‘Gorkhapatra’ of yesterday reported that the CPN-Maoist started off giving the training to its cadres on the guerilla-style operations in Damak, Jhapa to interrupt the elections to a new CA. According to the news, some students, former Maoist combatants, and Maoist cadres have been taking training in the areas where there is no presence of the local administration.
