Damages Left By Sandy Hurricane

November 2, 2012: hurricane Sandy hit the east coast of American last Monday and left on Wednesday causing immense damages to the infrastructures and the huge losses of business. Some people continued to suffer from the power outage and the lack of gasoline. Sandy also took the lives of more 100 innocent people.
More than a half million flights were cancelled. Millions of passengers had to stay behind almost all over the world. Children stayed home; consequently parents needed to stay home, too to take care of the children. Public transports were closed causing commuters to stay home. People could not go to work because of the heavy rains and wind. Hospitals had to evacuate the sick because of the power outage.
One estimate puts the business and property losses at more than US $ 50 billions. Insurance companies, and federal, state and local governments pay for the losses but individuals not having insurances would pay, too. Losses individuals have to pay for power outage, for not having water, and for need to line up for hours and hours to fill the car tanks are also immense.
People were evacuated from the danger areas. A few people disregarded the evacuation warning risking their lives, and causing extremely risky situation for the rescuers. Governors in the hurricane-hit states remained monitoring the hurricane and its effect on the lives and the properties. They continuously warned the people of the risk of going out and even looking out of windows, and advised them to be prepared for power outage keeping flashlights, and conserving waters in the bathtubs, and buying some non-perishable foods for some days.
President Barack Obama cancelled his election campaign and stayed in the white house monitoring the hurricane Sandy, and keeping prepared for taking any decisions required by the situation developed by the Sandy. The president also visited the hard-hit New York area, and promised to provide any help the people would need.
