Status of Drinking Water In Kathmandu Valley

KTM Metro Reporter

Kathmandu, July 15, 2017: The news in “gorkhapatra” of today stated that the Kathmandu District Pubic Health Office in its research on the drinking water supplied in the Kathmandu Valley found that the city water supply, water from the wells, and the water the private companies have been supplying in tankers, and even the bottled water in jars have the high content of impurities, and 81 percent water is contaminated.

In the past, even the water-supply pipes in the area where the residences of prime minister and chief justice are, were contaminated with the sewage, and the then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and his cabinet minister had had jaundice.

So, the public-and-even-private water supply has been not safe in Kathmandu. Anybody to be safe side from the water borne diseases needs to first filter the water then boiled it and then filter it again before drinking, says the expert.
