NC Leader And Cadre In Revolt

Issue 40, September 30, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 29, 2012: speaking at an event held in Kathmandu today, NC leader Sujata Koirala said that the protest planned by the NC-led opposition alliance to force Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai out of office was worthless, as the common folks would not support it; so, the government should be replaced by reaching a political consensus. She also suggested the President to take a "democratic step" to give an outlet to the country from the current political crisis, writes nepalnews.com.

NC President Sushil Koirala escaped unhurt when a NC cadre called Pravesh Basnet attempted an assault on him while he was attending an event held by the NC Kathmandu constituency- 4 in Kapan in Kathmandu today morning, according to nepalnews.com

The Nepal Students Union (NSU) expelled its leader Pravesh Basnet for assaulting President of NC Sushil Koirala by hurling a chair at Koirala while attending a function. The NC cadres overpowered him following the incident, and then the police arrested him, according to ‘THT ONLINE.’ Other NC leaders also were over there at the function.

Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal took a strong slap from the dissatisfied cadre some years ago in the similar circumstances as Koirala had been today. Later, the police released the cadre without charging him for the assault on the chairman.

Not only common folks had been disheartened by the Nepalese political leaders but also even their cadres that risked everything in their lives to express their dissatisfaction with the incumbent leaders.
