Prime Minister’s Address To Nation
By KTM Metro Reporter
June 1, 2011: on behalf of all concerned political parties, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has apologized to the Nepalese people for not being able to meet the people’s aspirations for completing the peace process and crafting a new constitution. However, everybody knows that Mr. Khanal has played a negative role in creating such a political atmosphere, as he has held the election to a new prime minister hostage for seven months not allowing the lawmakers belonging to his party participate in the election. Mr. Khanal is an opportunist and has taken the opportunity of taking the office of prime minister disregarding the completion of the peace process and writing of a new constitution.
The five-point agreement the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML has reached shows that Mr. Khanal could not manage his office and wiling to quit the office after five months. However, he is taking time on the pretext of first building a consensus on a new government and then only he will quit the office.
In the national address delivered yesterday, Mr. Khanal has asked others particularly the main opposition NC to play a positive role in building a consensus government. Mr. Khanal had already wasted seven months of precious time for completing the peace process and for writing a new constitution, how could he dare to ask others for following his words. The opportunists dominate Nepalese politics. So, another opportunist comes to play a negative role in the nation building.
He has charged the NC with engaging in the nationwide awareness campaign rather than using the time for positive actions. NC leaders have been playing the role of villains in the Nepalese politics but Mr. Khanal and his colleagues need to play a positive role in the Nepalese politics.
Mr. Khanal says that since the formation of his government, attempts have been made to tear it down but he has not mentioned again how he has played a role in pushing the previous government headed by infamous Prime Minister Madhav Nepal out of office.
Nepalis have already started not believing the political leaders for their words as their deeds always have deviated from their words. These guys would do anything just to get a position of prime minister. Nepal has been suffering from the drought of sincere political leaders that could lead the country to a decisive direction for the fast political, social and economical development of Nepalis.
