Meeting Of Two Top Leaders

On December 18, 2009, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist and NC President Girija Prasad Koirala have had a meeting obviously to break the current political deadlock. Coming out of the residence of Koirala, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist has said that NC President Koirala is positive to set up a high-level policy mechanism, and the task force made of the UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML is working on breaking the political deadlock.

At the same time, political leaders in power have urged the Maoists to call off the shutdown of Nepal on December 20, 21 and 22, 2009 the Maoists have planned. However, Maoist leaders have said that they will go ahead with their plan on closing the business of the entire country until their demand for correcting the President’s unconstitutional move on directly writing a letter to the army chief is corrected.

Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of foreign affairs, Sujata Koirala has said that some NC leaders with the greed of holding on to their positions have been against the setup of a high-level policy mechanism for breaking the current political deadlock in Nepal.
