Explanation On Resignation Of Secretary To Finance Ministry

April 4, 2011: explaining to legislators at the legislature-parliament, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has said that his deputy has not put any pressure on the secretary to the ministry of finance to quit the office but the value-added tax (VAT) defaulters have spreading the false rumors about the resignation of the secretary. However, NC legislators have been charging his deputy with firing the secretary for not getting on for easing actions against VAT defaulters.

Secretary to Ministry of Finance Rameshwar Khanal has said yesterday that he has quit the office because Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari has bypassed him for making a supplementary budget; so, he has thought that he has lost the confidence of the fiancé minister in him; he does not see it good to continue working with the boss that does not trust him according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today.

However, secretary Khanal has made it clear that Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of Finance Adhikari has sounded him whether they could act on the fake VAT bills softly for making the lives of the VAT evaders easy hinting that the deputy prime minister has made a deal with the VAT evaders.
