Expanding Nepalese Cabinet

September 16, 2011: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has administered the oath of office and secrecy to six new ministers: two of his UCPN-Maoist and four of the UDMF in presence of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and his party boss Prachanda at the official residence of the president yesterday. The portfolio of Defense Minister has gone to Sharad Singh Bhandari: one of the senior leaders of the Madheshi Peoples Rights Forum-Democratic while Hem Raj Tated of the same party has received the portfolio of the Minister for Environment.
Maoist leaders such as Lekh Raj Bhatta and Gopal Kiranti have received the portfolio of the Minister for Commerce and Supplies, and the Minister for Federalism and Constituent Assembly respectively.
Chief of Sadbhawana Party-Federal Anil Kumar Jha has received the portfolio of the Minister for Industry while Brijesh Kumar Gupta of the Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party the portfolio of the Minister for Law and Justice.
The expansion of the cabinet has cemented the coalition of the UCPN-Maoist and the UDMF further.
