Tremor At Nepal-India Western Border

April 4, 2011: the Nepalese Department of Mines and Geology has reported that an earthquake of 5.7 magnitude has hit the far western areas of Nepal bordering with India causing some damages to the houses in Dhangadi and Baitadi areas in Nepal but no report of human casualties has coming in, yet. The tremor has occurred at 5.16 PM today Nepal time and lasted for about 10 seconds. The tremor has been felt even in Gorkha: central Nepal.

According to the Indian media, people in New Delhi, Chandigarh and even in Shimla have felt the tremor but no damages have been reported so far. Nuclear power plants operating in those areas have not been affected and have been functioning smoothly.
