Kathmandu: the Parliamentary Public Account Committee (PAC) has urged Commission On Investigation Into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to investigate the irregularities in the land purchase Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) had done for constructing various depots in different provinces, the news in the “artha bazaar” section of “gorkhapatra” stated on August 5, 2017.
According to the findings of PAC, NOC had purchased the land not following any State-owned companies has to follow for purchasing land, and paying a number of times high prices than the prevailing market prices, and purchasing the low quality land particularly the riverbed for constructing fossil fuel depots.
Another recent news in “artha bazaar” section of “gorkhapatra” stated on August 5, 2017 that NOC had purchased 14 bigha land in Bhairawa for constructing a fuel depot in the last month but it had been part of river, and now fully flooded.
However, NOC strongly denied doing anything wrong in purchasing land publishing an ad in the front page of “gorkhapatra’ on August 5, 2017. The ad stated NOC had followed the bidding process for purchasing the land, and even verified the prices by writing to the local administration.
