Serious Talks For Forming A New Government
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
March 30, 2010: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has held serious talks with Chairman of CPN-UML Jahalanath Khanal on forming a new government on Monday, March 29, 2010. Mr. Khanal has put forward several conditions such as dismantling the YCL, returning the private and public property seized by the organizations affiliated to the Maoists for supporting the Maoists to form a new government.
However, Mr. Khanal has been a less credible person because of his past incredible performances of going to the President and urging him for abusing the Interim constitution of Nepal of 2007 for directly writing a letter to the army chief and saving his job from the hands of the Maoist Prime Minister even though he has nodded to the Prime Minister for taking a strong action against the undisciplined army chief.
Prachanda has also held talks with the leaders of the Madheshi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) concerning the formation of a new government. They have agreed on the fact that the current government is not legitimate and cannot lead a new constitution to the promulgation.
At the same time, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has started off talking to the leaders of fringe political parties and sounding their opinions on whether he needs to quit the most lucrative job of the Prime Minister in other words whether he has the support of the leaders of those small political parties or not.
Leaders of large political parties have already started off finding a new combination of forming another government agreeable to the major four parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and MPRFs, as all these four parties together hold 461 seats in the Constituent Assembly more than two-third majority required for passing a new constitution.
At the same time, MPRF has stage a protest rally in Kathmandu on Monday, March 29, 2010, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Nepal stating he has been the most incompetent Prime Minister as he has not been able to enforce the 22-point agreement the government has reached with the MPRF and the 8-point agreement with the United Democratic Madhesh Front.
Chairman of MPRF Upendra Yadav has accused Prime Minister Madhav Nepal of not being serious about the constitution writing; so, as long as he is in the Prime Ministerial chair he would not write a new constitution and complete the peace process; he should resign from the position immediately paving the way for completing the writing of a new constitution and the peace process.
