Migratory Birds Returning Home Earlier
By KTM Metro Reporter
March 29, 2011: migratory birds coming from different countries such as Siberia of Russia, China, Mongolia and central Asian countries such as Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to avoid cold winter in their respective country are returning home from Nepal earlier than used to be as temperature has started rising rapidly, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of March 28, 2011 writes.
Migratory birds from their respective countries fly to various parts of Nepal in October to enjoy the warm climate here and fly back home in mid March. However, with the early warming, they have been returning back home earlier than used to be.
The presence of these birds makes the Nepalese lakes charming but early departure of these birds has made these lakes charm less.
Bird expert Hemsagar Baral has said that these birds fly to Nepal because they don’t find food in their respective home countries during winter. "These birds travel to their own respective places after the beginning of summer”, ‘The Rising Nepal’ quotes Baral.
Mr. Baral has said that these birds travel at an amazing speed some of them traveling around 4000 to 5000 miles in two or three days, some taking longer time about 10 days.
