CPN-UML Leadership Under Fire

Issue 25, June 21, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On June 17, 2009, at the parliamentary party meeting, the CPN-UML parliamentary members have criticized the leadership for appealing to the ceremonial President for overstepping the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 rather than asking for correcting the wrong method of decision made by the then Prime Minister Prachanda on firing the Chief of Army Staff. They also have disagreed on the Prime Minister appointing the defeated persons to the ministerial positions. They have charged the party leadership of insulting the elected members of the legislature appointing so many rejected members to ministerial positions; it is just like giving unemployment benefits according to the news published in the ‘Gorkhapatra’ of June 18, 2009.

The dissident members of the CPN-UML have charged the leadership of creating factions rather and unity in the party after the convention of the party in Butwal and forming a large government.
