Issue 23, June 05, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 30, 2011: the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have signed off a five-point agreement to extend the term of the Constituent Assembly for three months and save it from dissolution on the almost midnight of May 28, 2011. The fifth point of the Five-point agreement says that the prime minister will quit the office for paving the way for setting up a national consensus government.

Immediately after coming out of the parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has told reporters that he will resign only after the three political parties build a consensus on an alternative candidate for his office.

At the same time, talking to the reporters, an aspirant to the office of prime minister and Nepali Congress parliamentary leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that prime minister needs to quit the office immediately to pave the way for building a consensus national government.
