Head Of State Unlikely To Call On Political Parties For A majority Government

Issue 49, December 2, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 28, 2012: Head of State: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav is unlikely to call on the political parties to form a majority government even if the political parties fail in finding out a consensus candidate for a next prime minister, and the President is also unlikely to cross the constitutional boundary, according to THT ONLINE of today. “If parties themselves decided to opt for majority-based government, President won’t object. But Dr Yadav himself won’t intervene to call a majority government,” THT ONLINE quoted Rajendra Dahal: Press Advisor to the President Dr Ram Baran Yadav as saying.

At the same time speaking at the inaugural function of a hospital in Baglung today, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that it would be unfortunate if the president were to cross the constitutional limit; the president’s call on the political parties to form a unity government within a week is the indication of the president trying to cross his constitutional authority; the opposition leaders have been provoking the president to act as an executive but the president will be ousted if he is to cross the constitutional limit; there is no alternative to going altogether, according to the news posted on thehimalayantimes.com
