On September 27, 2007, the Supreme Court of Nepal ruled in favor of the plaintiff in the case against the provision made in the Constituent Assembly (CA) Member Election Act of 2007 denying the people accused by the Rayamajhi Commission of perpetrating the abuse of human rights and misuse of the state treasury to stand as candidates in the election for a Constituent Assembly. The verdict says that the denial of contesting in the election goes against the Interim Constitution. On August 27, 2007, former ministers and administrators of the King-led government filed a case at the Supreme Court of Nepal claiming the Clause 19 (G) of the Act goes against the Interim Constitution of 2007 so needed to scrap the Clause and let them contest the election.
