All-party Meeting To Ratify The Tentative Agreement Four Parties Reached

Issue 11, March 17, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

March 13, 2013: four major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF called an all-party meeting yesterday to ratify the tentative agreement the four parties had reached. Except for one party, all the political parties rejected the proposal for forming a new government headed by the Chief Justice, and they suggested to form a government headed by a political leader, according to the ‘gorkhapatra’ news of today.

Some leaders have complained that the four-party syndicate did not provide them with the written document of the manifesto the four parties had almost agreed on. Leaders of the four parties only verbally presented what they had agreed on. They had said that 24 articles of the Interim Constitution to be amended to pave the way to form a new government under the Chief justice and hold elections in June.

However, the major contentious issues such as the voters’ lists, citizenship certificates, formation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and high-level-officer positions for the Maoist combatants joining in the Nepal Army, have remained under discussion.
