EC Briefed Political Leaders On Election Process

June 20, 2013: the Election Commission (EC) invited the leaders of political parties to its office at Kantipath in Kathmandu yesterday to brief them on the process of the elections. The EC commissioner informed the political leaders about the timetable the EC has set and published in ‘Gorkhapatra’: state-run newspaper in the local language. Political leaders agreed on the timetable set by the EC.

 

Talking to ‘The Rising Nepal’: local newspaper in English over phone, spokesman for the EC Bir Bahadur Rai said that political leaders agreed on fully cooperating with the EC on holding the elections on time in a free, friar and credible manner, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.

 

Some of the leaders opposing the holding of the elections without their consent have demanded to meet their demands if the EC were really interested in holding elections to a second CA in a meaningful manner.
