US Appreciates Progress In Peace Process Of Nepal

October 19, 2011: US Deputy Assistant Secretary Geoffrey R Pyatt serving directly under Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Robert Blake, said that he was enormously optimistic about the situation in Nepal. Pyatt has met with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, President of NC Sushil Koirala and Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal.

Accompanying Pyatt to the meetings with the Nepalese politicians, US Ambassador Scott H DeLisi has told reporters after the meetings that they have encouraged Prachanda to sit and brief the international community on the progress of the peace process. Ambassador DeLisi also has said that political parties have been able to narrow down their wide-ranging differences on constitution drafting and peace process according to the news posted on the Zeenews.inida.com
