Diesel To Industries At Discounted Rate

Issue 10, March 06, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

March 1, 2011: the government led by former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal had decided to provide diesel to industries at the discounted rate ignoring the state-run oil company called Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) incurring a huge loss. As the head of the government, Madhav Nepal had made such decisions to enrich himself and his sycophants, friends and relatives at the cost of the national treasury.

Now, the private oil retailers are refusing to deliver diesel to industries at the discounted rate decided by Madhav Nepal and his cabinet, ‘Himalayan News Service’ reports. Speaking at the special general meeting of Nepal Petroleum Dealers’ National Association (NPDNA), President of NPDNA Saroj Prasad Pande, said, “We will close down all the petrol pumps if the government enforces the decision.” he asked the dealers to continue with putting pressure on the government for the decision to be revoked, the news report says.

In addition, managing director of NOC Digambar Jha said, “The industries should not be provided diesel at the rate of dealers.” The government has made this decision just to appease some industrialists according to one of the officials of the NOC according to the news report.
