PLA Members Taking SLC Exams

March 17, 2010: altogether 1,300 members of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) confined at different cantonments following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Maoists and the Government of Nepal are taking the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams starting off on March 25, 2010.

The Maoists’ Literate Manpower Development Center has been running open schools for preparing the Maoist members of the PLA and other students, too for SLC examinations according to the news item published in the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of March 17, 2010. Altogether 5,200 students of the open schools run by the Maoists’ Literate Manpower Development Center will take the SLC exams this year.

At the press conference held at his Sanothemi office, Bhaktapur, the Examination Controller Chitra Prasad Devkota has said that 466,300 students are taking the SLC exams at 1,550 examination centers this year. The SCL examinations start off on March 25, 2010.
