Opposing the Government’s Decision On Transferring High Police Officers

June 20, 2012: Talking to reporters at his party’s central office at Sanepa yesterday, NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC said that the Maoists were trying to capture the state power transferring the security officers; the government was planning to rig the election through the use of security forces but the election cannot take place without political consensus, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

In a statement issued in Kathmandu, the CPN-UML has demanded the government to revoke its decision on transferring the police officers stating the government violated the election code of conduct.

At the meeting presided over by Acting Chief Election Commissioner Nilkantha Upreti, a decision was taken to urge the government to revoke its transfer of the high police officers stating it violates the election code of conduct, as the fresh elections to a new Constituent Assembly was already declared. “The transfer decision was a violation of code of conduct. So, EC directed the government to not implement the decision,” EC spokesperson Sharada Prasad Trital told The Rising Nepal immediately after the meeting, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
