A New Priest Appointed To Goddess Siddhi Laksmi At Nyatapole Temple In Bhaktapur

July 8, 2013: a new priest called Yagyaman Karmacharya was appointed to the priest to make offerings to Goddess Siddhi Laksmi at Nyatapole Temple in Bhaktapur after the death of the former priest on June 14, 2013, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
A priest to be eligible for holding regular offerings to Goddess Siddhi Laksmi should have received the religious secret training at the ‘Agam’ means a prayer room of Goddess Taleju in Bhaktapur. Only the selected priests have an access to the ‘Agam’.
Goddess Siddhi Laksmi at Nyatapole Temple in Bhaktapur is a nine-headed goddess. The goddess has nine heads in three tiers. The first tier has five heads, the second has three; and finally the upper most tier has a single head. She has 18 limbs. She is the most powerful goddess. The public has no access to the goddess.
A legend has it that a five-storey temple was built and the goddess was installed in it to quell the restless activities of God Bhairav in Bhaktapur. Bhairav is the tantric form of Lord Shiva. The god presides over the death rituals.
