Ruling on Vice-president’s Oath Not Prejudiced

On September 13, 2009, speaking to the reporters at the Supreme Court of Nepal, Chief Justice Minbahadur Rayamajhi has said that the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nepal on annulling the oath of office taken by Vice-president Permananda Jha in Hindi and ordering him to take an oath of office in Nepali is not prejudiced but following the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007, and also has said that Chief Justice Rayamajhi was not the member of the committee on investigating the case of the then justice Permananda Jha’s involvement in the drug smuggling according to the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of September 14, 2009.

The case of former Chief of Army Staff Rukmangad Katuwal of falsifying his age has been pending at the Supreme Court of Nepal for the last three years. Similarly, the case of ceremonial President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav violating the Interim Court of Nepal of 2007 has been pending at the Supreme Court of Nepal for the last year.
