Eastern Nepal in Trouble

On October 28, 2009, the residents of Itahari in eastern Nepal have launched an indefinite shutdown of the area demanding the government build a stadium at Itahari after the government decided to build it in the Sunsari district. They burned down a minibus and damaged about 50 vehicles that have attempted to run defying the shutdown call of the residents of Itahari.

The Bhojpur district administration has imposed an indefinite curfew in the headquarters area after the fighting between the students affiliated to the UCPN-Maoist and the CPN-UML erupted. Students affiliated to the CPN-UML have fought back the students affiliated to the UCPN-Maoist charging them of beating the Campus Chief. Bhojpur is the eastern hill district of Nepal.
