President For Resolving Political Issues At CA
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On December 17, 2009, speaking at the function of opening the 10th International Buddhist Conference in Lumbini: the birthplace of Lord Buddha, in an obvious reference to the Maoists declaring one autonomous republic after another, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has said that all political issue should be resolved at the Constituent Assembly (CA).
The President has also said that the consensus politics is the only way of completing the historic task of writing a new constitution on time; political parties are responsible for institutionalizing peace and democracy; and the transition period has been lingering as the political parties have failed in managing it properly.
About one thousand Buddhist scholars including the ambassadors from Sri Lanka and Thailand have been participating in the conference. The Lumbini Dharmoday Sabha is holding the two-day 10th International Buddhist Conference in Lumbini. Participants will debate over awareness of Buddhist thinking, development of Lumbini and other related subject matters.
Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda is scheduled to attend the concluding session of the conference on Friday, December 18, 2009.
