Delegation Of European Union In Nepal

On October 8, 2009, members of the delegation of the European Union Regional Directors’ Troika met with the Prime Minister and leaders of political parties in Kathmandu and got acquainted with the ongoing peace process and writing of a new constitution from the Prime Minister and other political leaders. According to the Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gyan Chandra Acharya, they are concerned with the current political deadlock and want all political leaders working on the consensus politics.

Leader of the EU Troika delegation Klas Molin said, "It was an important and useful meeting. As a longtime partner, we are trying to assess situation of peace and constitution drafting processes in Nepal and we have received commitment from different stakeholders" according to the state-run newspaper ‘The Rising Nepal’ of October 9, 2009.

Maoist Chairman Prachanda and CPN-UML Chairman have presented their versions of the ongoing peace process and writing of a new constitution. They have presented the current political deadlock brought by the unconstitutional move of the ceremonial President.
