Nepalese Diplomatic Code Of Conduct

August 19, 2011: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has formally made public the 12-point Diplomatic Code of Conduct of 2011 yesterday for making national and international diplomatic activities transparent and systematic, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Following the code of conduct, ministers and officials of the constitutional bodies and other senior officials can hold talks with foreign diplomats in the presence of the representatives of the MOFA, and can contact diplomatic mission through the MOFA.

Similarly, staffs of any diplomatic missions in Nepal need to go through the MOFA for a meeting with the Nepalese officials 

Following the code of conduct, Nepalese diplomatic officials abroad need to submit an annual progress report of their performances to the MOFA, to the office of the Prime Minister and Council of the Ministers within three months of the end of every fiscal year.

The MOFA has listed the 22-point-prohibited acts in the code of conduct, and also set the dress code and language for the visiting Nepalese delegations, and officials abroad to use while attending any meeting, conference and functions.
