Teach Human Rights To Cadres

Issue 05, February 03, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 30, 2013: NC and CPN-UML cadres have attempted to block the road for preventing the prime minister going to attend the district convention of his party in Banepa. The police used the force to clear the road for the prime minister to reach his destination causing injuries to some of the cadres that had obstructed the road violating the rights of the prime minister to travel without obstruction.

NC and CPN-UML leaders labeled such obstruction of the road as the peaceful protest and said that the police have violated the human rights of the cadres that had violated the human rights of the prime minister. Clearly, NC and CPN-UML leaders needed to teach their cadres what are the human rights how they need to honor the human rights of others while enjoying their own human rights.

At the same time, NC and CPN-UML cadres fought with the Maoist cadres in Banepa causing a battle like situation. Maoist cadres and NC/CPN-UML cadres pelted stones at each other causing injuries to some cadres.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has expressed concern over the conflict going on between the ruling and the opposition parties. The NHRC concluded that based on the preliminary information, the attitude of the opposition to bar the UCPN-Maoist leaders from entering the district and attending the party's district convention was responsible for inviting the situation of confrontation, according to the RSS news posted on thehimalayantimes.com of yesterday.
