Home Minister Ask Prime Minister For Assistance In Arresting A Criminal

June 13, 2011: Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara holding the portfolio of Home yesterday has called on Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and requested his cooperation on arresting Youth Force leader Parsuram Basnet allegedly involved in the assault on Biratnagar-based Nagrik daily reporter Khilanath Dhakal as the security personnel could not find him because of the political protection he has enjoyed, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Mr. Mahara has said that Youth Force leader Parsuram Basnet allegedly has instructed to attack Dhakal has been absconding under the protection of the CPN-UML leaders.

Prime Minister Khanal has assured Mr. Mahara of not interfering in the matter and asked Mahara to mobilize all security forces to arrest the assailants.

Talking to a team representing the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) at the party headquarters in Balkhu yesterday, General Secretary of CPN-UML Ishwor Pokharel has assured the team of finding out the truth about the incident and taking actions accordingly. The team has wanted to know what the CPN-UML is doing to arrest the assailants of Dhakal.

Reporters in the Morang district yesterday have staged a protest against the government’s inability to bring the assailants of reporter Khilanath Dhakal to justice even after six days of the assault.
