Maoist’s Program On Movement

Issue 32, August 9, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On Monday, August 3, 2009, the Standing Committee of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) has decided to launch a United National Movement to restore the people’s suzerainty and to correct the President’s unconstitutional move on directly writing to the Chief of Army Staff stating to stay on in the job against the decision of the elected Prime Minister on firing the Chief of Army Staff.

Seeing the government will not meet the one-month deadline for bringing the issue of the unconstitutional move of the President to discuss in the legislature-parliament, three days before the deadline ends, the UCPN-Maoist has made public its program on peacefully launching a United National Movement starting on Friday, August 7, 2009.

According to the program, the Maoist parliamentarians will put on hold the business of the parliament on August 7, 2009, the Maoist cadres will hold rallies across the country, hold sit-ins at the district headquarters, and then they will stop the President, Prime Minister and Ministers from attending public programs.
