On November 26, 2007, half a dozen companies including the aircraft company Airbus and the French nuclear company Areva signed a deal worth $ 30 billion with the Chinese partners during the three-day visit of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. "Airbus confirms its intention to manufacture five percent of the airframe of the A350 XWB aircraft in China," the Chinese company said in a statement. Airbus received orders of about $17.4 billion worth of 160 passenger planes from Chinese airlines, while Areva won the contract of $11.9 billion to build nuclear reactors in the southern Guangdong Province.
The Airbus deal included 110 A320 planes and 50 A330 planes for China to buy according to Airbus China. The China Aviation Supplies Import and Export Group Corporation (CASGC) has signed an agreement to buy 150 Airbus planes, and China Southern Airlines, the country's largest carrier by fleet size, has ordered 10 A330-220s according to the company.

In the presence of Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy, both sides signed the MOU.
