Concerns Of President, Prime Minister And Political Leaders

February 16, 2012: At the joint meeting with Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, President of NC Sushil Koirala, and Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal held at the official residence of the president yesterday, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has urged them to expedite the peace process and constitution writing, as the deadline for completing these nationally important tasks has been approaching, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

During the meeting, President Dr Yadav also has inquired about the bills on anti-money laundering, and about the dispute over the report of the State-Restructuring Commission (SRC) on the formation of states and the reactions of the parties to the SRC report.

Showing his concern for the anti-national statement of a minister, deforestation and resultant devastation of Chure forest area caused under the protection of political parties, the President has urged the leaders to be sensitive to such serious issues.

In response to the president’s concerns, the leaders have told the president they also have been equally worried about the completion of the peace process and the constitution writing, as they have to build a consensus on the state restructuring, electoral system, judicial system and form of governance, yet.

Speaking at the function to open a Small Hydel Project at Magyam Chisapani in Syangja, yesterday, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that the government would soon form a commission on truth and reconciliation and on enforced disappearances.
