NOC Staffs Fight For Corruption

Issue 39, September 29, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 26, 2013: workers of the Nepal Oil Corruption (NOC) have blocked the supply of petroleum products in the eastern region depot of the NOC since yesterday protesting against the arrest of the four allegedly corrupt managers including the executive director of NOC, according to the Radio Nepal morning news of today.

Blocking of the supply of the petroleum products has immediately affected the petroleum tankers coming in and going out of the eastern region depot of the NOC. Some tankers carrying petroleum products have been stranded in the Baurany of India from where petroleum products are supplied to Nepal. Soon, the protest of the workers against the arrest of the corrupt managers will affect the supply of the petroleum products in the Kathmandu Valley, too.

The endemic corruption in the NOC has been responsible for the sky-high prices of the petroleum products, and for the so high loss incurred by the NOC every month despite the high prices of the petroleum products. So, the government should take strong actions against the workers protesting against the arrest of the corrupt managerial staffs. The NOC has the monopoly on supplying the petroleum products in Nepal.

The Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had arrested four managerial staffs including the executive director of the NOC for the abuse of authority and corruption. Workers protesting against the arrest of the corrupt managerial staffs have been part of the humongous corruption going on in the NOC. The CIAA needs to take immediate actions against those workers protesting against the arrest of the corrupt managerial staffs of the NOC.
