Where Only Teng Hsiao Ping No Maoists

April 21, 2013: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachnada returned home yesterday late night after a weeklong visit to China. Two Vice-chairmen of UCPN-Maoist: Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha received him at the special lounge of the International Airport in Kathmandu, according to ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
Speaking to the reporters at the special lounge of the International Airport, Chairman Prachanda said, “at the end of the visit, I reached Sanjhen where I did not find Maoists but only Teng Hsiao Ping; Sanjhen had only 200,000 people when Teng had conceive it for development; now, it has the population of 20 million due to the economic development; and a team of the industrialists of that area is coming to Nepal for exploring the possibility of investment,” according to ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
Quoting Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chairman Prachanda said the Nepalese media had portrayed China as against the federalism but it was not so; the concern of China was the possibility of weakening the state due to the federalism. Chairman Prachanda assured the Chinese president of designing the strong central government electing an executive president, and giving power to the states for development. Chairman Prachanda also said that the Chinese president had been concerned with the lengthening of the political transitional period in Nepal.
Chairman Prachanda said, “Initially Chinese President Xi Jinping did not openly talk, as I started talking openly, the Chinese president also opened up his mind.” Chairman Prachanda boasted about one of the Chinese ministers next day had quoted the Chinese president as saying, “I was impressed by Prachandaji very much.”
Chairman Prachanda also said that his visit has been so arranged starting in Sichuan and ending in Beijing that he has had a chance of learning village, town, district and then central level of development. His meeting with different officials at the village level culminated into meeting with the high level Chinese leaders in Beijing.
