China to purge Tibetan monasteries

Issue 31, August 03, 2008

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

China has been planning a sweeping purge of Tibetan monasteries including banning all worship at those centers of rebellion according to the news posted on Telgraph.co.uk on July 27, 2008. Chinese authorities will dismiss the monks who refuse to change their thinking in line with official demands. They will take the most drastic actions against monasteries with a high number of monks involved in protests against the Chinese rule in Tibet. They will halt all religious activities at the monasteries and monitor movements of monks. They will force to re-register monks and nuns and administer loyalty tests, and dismissed the failures in the tests and demolished their accommodation.
