Indian Border Security Force Harass Nepalis On Nepal-India Border

Issue 35, August 30, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

The state-run newspaper “Gorkhapatra’ of August 25, 2009 has reported that members of the Indian Border Security Force on the Nepal-India border area called Rupaidiya in Nepalgunj have been harassing Nepalis traveling back forth from this entry point daily. They have been misbehaving Nepalis to extract something from the Nepalis. They even used to physically molest Nepalis and even keep in detention for no reasons for twenty-four hours without food and drink.

Some Nepalis have even started asking what Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has done in India when he visited India recently while Nepalis have been so badly treated by the members of the Indian Border Security Force on the border areas; and ask, “is it the success of Prime Minister’s visit to India?”
