Nepal Police Held Up Indian Minister For Three Hours

May 23, 2010: traveling with her kids and bodyguards, Women And Welfare Minister Of Uttar Pradesh State Vidya Chaudhari has erroneously crossed the border and entered the Nepalese territory without informing the Nepalese police on Friday, May 21, 2010; she was in an election campaign. So, the Nepalese police have detained her with her kids and bodyguards for three hours before letting her go.
Following the treaty between Nepal and India, the border between Nepal and India is opened to the citizens of both the countries to travel freely without arms and ammunition but anybody carrying arms need to inform the police so that such an undesirable event does not occur.
The Indian minister has apologized to the Nepalese police authorities for wrongly crossing the border with the armed bodyguards and assured them of not repeating such mistakes in the future. The Nepalese police released the Minister and her entourage in the evening.
