Increasing Price Of Cooking Gas In Nepal

Issue 07, February 17, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 13, 2013: the state-run Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the price of cooking gas per cylinder of 14.5 kg from Rs 1470 to Rs 2100 effective from today. The NOC will return Rs 550 per cylinder to a household having a gas-consumer card at the rate of one cylinder per household a month.

The government has passed the method of returning Rs 550 to consumers but the NOC has not decided how to do it, yet.

According to the news posted on ‘Gorkhapatra’ of today, the NOC has increased the price of gas due to the loss it has incurred. The NOC has been losing Rs 700 million per month due to the sale of the cooking gas only. After the increase in the gas price, the NOC will make a profit.
