Political Heroes Turned Into Villains And Then Jokers

Issue 35, August 26, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 21, 2012: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda had accused President of NC Sushil Koirala of being an obstacle to building a national consensus; then Sushil answered back telling Prachanda was a conspirator; because of his conspiracy, the CA was dissolved without promulgating a constitution said Sushil. It remains to be seen who is speaking the truth.

Senior Leaders of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba said that he would be the next prime minister only if it were based on a consensus but not on the majority basis. He also reiterated that the only solution to the current political deadlock was to reinstate the CA and promulgate a new constitution. However, Mr. Deuba ignored the fact of building a consensus on promulgating a new constitution was not possible, as the pro and against federalists were not back tracking from their respective stand.

Two extreme points came together: the extreme left point represented by Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya and the extreme right represented by Chairman of Rastriya Prajantra Party-Nepal (RPP-Nepal) Kamal Thapa had held talks on finding out the possibility of breaking the current political deadlock. What they had in common was most probably the so-called nationalism. Vaidhya was instrumental in tearing down the monarchy whereas Thapa was for restoring the monarchy.

The NC leaders had been peeling off their masks and showing their true corruption-tainted faces not stopping the cadres of their sister organizations from shutting down the home district of NC leader Khum Bahadur Khadka recently convicted of corruption by the Supreme Court of Nepal in protest of the conviction. These NC guys should know that they were not above law even though they had been in the past and the hangover from the past continued on their minds.

Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda had held discussions with the coalition-partner leaders how to move political pawns in the aftermath of the Head of State rejecting the two election-related ordinances and the Head of State saying an election to a new CA was not possible without building a national consensus.

General Secretary of CPN-Maoist Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ said that the leaders of UCPN-Maoist had turned themselves heroes into villains then ultimately into jokers, quotes HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE. How nicely this statement fits to his boss and Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya Kiran.

Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha had said that at the time when the country had only two political and administrative bodies that had been constitutionally working, the Head of State should not have confronted with the government by rejecting the two election-related ordinances.
