Number Of Girls Went Up At Community Schools

January 2, 2014: number of girl students has increased at the community schools in the Darchula district since the last few years after the government provided them with scholarships, free textbooks and mid-day meals through the Ministry of Education, according to the news  on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

 

Not only the district headquarters-based schools but also the schools in the rural areas have enrolled the increased number of female students in the recent years, said the District Education Office (DEO), Darchula. The DEO has credited to the parents’ awareness of the need for giving education to the daughters for the female students attending at schools in an increased number.

 

Officiating District Education Officer Ramdutta Bhatta has said that the number of girl students has increased also because of different programs including scholarship, free textbooks and mid-day meals launched by the Ministry of Education at the community schools.

 

At the 590 community schools in the district, the number of boys is high compared to girls in the elementary level, Bhatta said. A total of 44,886 students are at the pre-primary to the higher secondary community schools in the district. Of them, 22, 779  are girls, and 22,107 are boys, said the DEO.
