December 21, 2013: UCPN-Maoist said today that it would not join the coalition government but it would join the Constituent Assembly (CA) for the sake of the constitution drafting process, according to the Xinhua news.
"We will join the CA so we ask the Election Commission to extend the deadline for the submission of the names under the proportional election category," said party spokesperson Agni Sapkota.
He said that the party would support the coalition government to be formed by the largest party NC. The NC and the second largest party CPN-UML are working to bring onboard the Maoist party so that it will make the constitution drafting process easy.
The Maoist party emerged as a largest political force of the country in 2008 currently faced a humiliating loss in the elections held on November 19, 2013, as it just secured 80 seats out of the 601-member CA due to its failure to improve the organizational structure.
